New
Oblivion Add-on
Bethesda
has announced a new quest for Elder Scrolls IV:
Oblivion, featuring over a two dozen new books and
magic items, in which the player is challenged to
foil a plot to overthrow the Imperial rule. A rouge
mage has unearthed a lost city, now an enormous
dungeon, in search of a deadly artifact that kills
enemies instantly. The Daedric Artifact is known
only as Mehrune’s Razor, hence the title,
and it’s up to the player to ensure that
this lethal power doesn’t fall into the wrong
hands—or at least, anyone else’s wrong hands.
Bethesda
Softworks’ fifth add-on for Oblivion and further
information about it is available on the Oblivion
Downloads Web site.
Old
PC, Meet Oblivion
The
good news: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is one
of the most visually fantastic games ever made,
a feast for the senses.
The
bad news: You're stuck with a prehistoric gaming
PC, packing a Geforce 3 with 64 MB of video RAM,
a 1.6 Ghz CPU, and 512 MB of system RAM, which falls
well below Oblivion's minimum hardware sprcs.
What
to do?
Answer:
download OLDblivion, a community-created modification
that simplifies the game's most visually demanding
graphical effects. With the modification, Oblivion
can still look plenty beautiful, but more importantly,
Oblivion will be smooth and playable on out-of-date
hardware, especially if you take time to fine-tune
the options.
