Control Factor - Players get to choose either mouse or keyboard character controls. The keyboard is better suited for PvP battles, while the mouse-based controls are better for leveling/grinding.

Shininess Factor -
Pretty yes, but the world is just to flat. The ground is there so the mobs can have something to stand on, that’s all. The characters are quite beautiful though.

Earshot Factor -
With every step you take there are loud annoying foot steps and the opening music sort of leaves something to be desired.

Online Factor - With Chip Wars every eight hours and seemingly no lag no matter how may people join in the PvP is one of the games strongest points.

RF or Rising Force online is a mix of Guild Wars/Lineage with many Diablo 2 elements. Everyone looks the same; you have about 5 different options to start with per slot (Face, hair, starting armor). Just don’t expect to look different. All the armor pieces are level dependant so you’ll always look more or less the same as other players. When you first create your character and you enter the world it will start out kind of slow, this is a good place to stop, but if you keep going you will notice that the gameplay is original and fun in its own way. The quests aren’t hard to understand since they are all "kill 10 of these" type quests.

If you enjoy grinding, then this is the game for you. The game is pretty repetitive and the graphics are typical for a Korean MMORPG since they all tend to have nice looking kind of anime’ish graphics. It might be fun at first, but not enough to keep you going. You get to high enough level to participate in chip wars, cool. You win and gain control and then what? Mine all day long, what great fun that is. Basically to sum it up, it's Lineage 2 with a sci-fi setting. If you are coming straight from WoW, stay away from this game, but if you have played games like L2 and enjoyed it then this might be the game for you.

In PvE it is a constant potion spam, it feels more like playing the piano cause you have to use a potion (heal) every 2 seconds. It seems like all you do is stand there swing, swing, potion and since there is no support or healer class and you can’t attack while you are moving you have no chose. The only real reason for PvE in this game is to get drops to pay for more potions.

The best thing about the game is the economy system. Each race has their own currency that’s weighed against the global "gold" currency. Depending on who wins the chip wars, the race currency goes up and down in worth towards the gold. Smart thinking but it only reflects on how much your potions are going to cost. This makes it a grindfest extraordinaire to be able to get as many drops as you can to buy more potions to have 1 extra so you can survive in the next PvP longer than your enemy.

Overall the game isn’t that bad but it isn’t something I want to dish out 15 bucks a month for. Some game mechanics can’t be explained and it feels flat and thin. Also, don’t be fooled by all the recent publicity, this is an old game; it came out in 2004 in Korea . Unless you want to spend all you time grinding to get to some decent PvP action, have fun, but if you don’t I wouldn’t get this game. Wait for DnD Online or LOTR Online to come out if you’re trying to find a good new MMO game.
